Mental Health Matters: individuals on the autism spectrum and caregivers

Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario Division and Autism Ontario are working together with several other local partners on a new initiative called Mental Health Matters.

Mental Health Matters aims to provide opportunities for adults living on the autism spectrum, their caregivers and families to gain knowledge, skills and/or resources to support their mental health. Activities within the Mental Health Matters project involve the collaboration of local autism and mental health community partners to implement CMHA Ontario flagship programs Mood Walks (in English and French) and Living Life to the Full.

Local community partners can receive Mood Walks training for both staff and volunteers, and run the program in their local communities. Offering a program to support adults on the spectrum and their families through safe hiking experiences may be a simple way to form positive relationships and experiences for both community organizations and participants. The project will deliver 12 Mental Health Matters Mood Walks programs across Ontario.
